Same-day implants are exactly what they sound like: the implant fixture is placed and a temporary crown is installed during the same surgical visit. You walk out chewing soft food the same day, instead of waiting 3–4 months with a gap (or wearing a flipper) before the temporary crown is added.
Same-day implants are not for every patient. They require sufficient bone density at the implant site, a healthy gum line, and a low-force bite location (usually front teeth or premolars rather than molars). At your free 3D CT scan, Dr. Sunny tells you whether you're a same-day candidate or whether the standard 4–6 month timeline is safer for long-term success in your case.
For candidates, the procedure is identical to a regular implant placement — but the temporary crown is fabricated chairside or pre-printed from your scan and seated immediately after the implant is in. The final permanent crown still arrives 3–4 months later once full osseointegration is achieved.
